The Gay Gnostic Fraternity is proud to hold several lines of apostolic and initiatic succession from Bishops Lucien-Francois Jean-Maine and his son, Hector-Francois Jean-Maine (photo-left). According to our initiatic tradition, Bishop Lucien's family had a long masonic association, having originally been slaves on a plantation in Haiti owned by the Masonic and Martinezist founder Martinez de Pasquales. In addition, as with nearly all Haitians, the Jean-Maine family had a long association with Vodou, in which both bishops, as well as their forebears, were initiated Houngans. Papa Hector, building on the Ophidian Gnostic foundation of the Ecclesiastical Revision 1921, of the Ancient and Primtive Rite of Memphis+Misraim (APRM+M), introduced some optional homo-erotic magical practices to the Ordo Templi Orientis Antiqua, which had been founded by his father.
Some of our Gay Gnostic Fraternity members are Free Illuminists in the APRM+M masonic magical system, as well as members of the Black Preceptory of Haiti and La Couleuvre Noire, a order of Gnostic Vodou, also founded by Tau Ogdoade-Orfeo I. The various strands of this Afro-Atlantean magical tradition have been mediated to us through the exceptionally fruitful and unique ministry of Patriarch Michael Bertiaux and some of his more important initiates.
